How safe is your shampoo?
What components of shampoo are NOT SAFE for your health?
- SLS - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It is a derivative of sulfuric acid, a very aggressive component. Due to its low cost, it is often used as a thickener and foaming agent.
Regular use of products containing SLS can cause irritation, itching, allergic reactions, hair loss due to weakening of the hair follicle.
- Parabens. A derivative of benzoic acid, which extends the shelf life of the product. Some studies have linked the occurrence of cancer to the use of parabens. Parabens have been proven to affect the human hormonal system due to their estrogenic activity.
- Mineral Oil. It is a product of petroleum refining. WHO lists them as a group 1 carcinogenic substance that can cause cancer.
- Phthalates, Benzene, Polyethyl Glycol, and Formaldehyde are also not safe for your health.
